Our journey so far...

The journey of Tathwamasi Charitable Trust began with a simple conversation among a few friends. During our discussions, we reflected on how much we missed visiting the temples that had played an important role in our spiritual lives. We spoke about the sense of peace found in the presence of Sri Guruvayoorappan, the devotion and discipline inspired by Bhagawan Ayyappan, and the unique atmosphere of traditional temple worship rooted in the sacred traditions of Keralam.

As these reflections continued, a shared aspiration began to take shape. We envisioned a sacred space where worship, culture, learning and service could come together; a place where future generations could experience and preserve the spiritual and cultural traditions that have guided countless devotees over the centuries.

While these discussions often took place over a cup of tea and reflected a shared longing for a traditional temple, the idea remained little more than a dream. Then, in what many of us now look back on as a turning point, one of us happened to come across a beautifully crafted Sri Ayyappan vigraham. Drawn by its beauty and spiritual presence, we made enquiries and eventually arranged for the vigraham to come to New Zealand.

We felt blessed to have Bhagawan in the form of Ayyappan amongst us. In November 2025, we conducted an Ayyappa Pooja with the vigraham. It was during this period that a profound realisation emerged among us. Sri Ayyappan was now here, and it felt as though He was gently showing us the way forward. What had once been a casual conversation among friends was beginning to take the shape of a calling.

Inspired by this experience, we gathered with our families and reflected on what should come next. Those discussions led to a shared commitment to establish Tathwamasi Charitable Trust and pursue the vision of creating a traditional Keralam-style Hindu temple dedicated to Sri Guruvayoorappan and Sri Ayyappan. What began as a simple conversation among friends had evolved into a journey of faith, devotion and service.

Today, our journey continues. While much remains to be done, each step brings us closer to creating a lasting spiritual home that will serve as a centre for worship, culture, learning and service for generations to come. We remain grateful for the encouragement, support and goodwill of our families, friends, devotees and well-wishers who share in this vision and walk alongside us on this sacred journey.
